Praise the Lord for a successful month. We have been so very busy this month. I joke around with Greg saying that we are the most busy non-busy people I've ever known. We have made contacts with the churches that Pastor John has connected us with and let me tell you.... there have been such a variety of responses. We had one pastor that called us back from his personal phone a few days after we emailed him and apologized for calling us so late. He said a missionary (even a missionary associate) should never be turned down and he was sorry for not contacting us sooner. He was so encouraging and sweet. We also had a few that gave us the "let us get back with you on that" talk and never heard from the again. But you know what.... I'm so grateful that the churches (including the one I discussed about earlier) were and have been so supportive. I can't even begin to express how encouraging it is to have people standing beside us that are ready to watch us succeed.
My sister is down from Ohio for their Christmas break. If you didn't already know, Stevie (my sister) is attending Valor Christian college and singing on stage with the worship team on Wednesday nights. She is in their choir and is studying for music ministry. It's wonderful having her around and I'm sure she's grateful to be back home.
We also have a few scheduled churches to meet with during January and February. We will keep everyone informed on how each visit goes.
Now just a quick blurb about Christmas..... Greg had the privilege of preaching Wednesday night at our home church and he spoke on stuff..... no, literally stuff. We give and give during Christmas and that in and of it's self isn't the issue. The problem comes when you begin to give out of obligation, so then the gift that you gave doesn't have any thought or significance simply because "... well.... I just don't know what to get them but I have to give them something because it's Christmas." Then that gift gets thrown in the back room, closet or garbage and all because we gave out of obligation rather then thinking about what that person needs. In fact, the best gifts are the ones where we see someone who needs something and provide them with that need (notice I said need and not want). Or how about listening to someone going through a hard time, or spending an evening with someone who is lonely, or buying that someone a meal when they are short on cash. I think you get the picture. Just remember this Christmas..... give with a purpose.... God gave His Son.... the motivation was love and that was the greatest gift of all. :)
