Getting the Hang of This :)

So I think it is safe to say that we are actually getting acclimated to living here. It is still a bit of a challenge to effectively communicate because of the language barrier and cultural differences but we can go to the store and are able to buy groceries. As insignificant as that may sound, it is an accomplishment for us here. We have walked around to all the different little shops and have found some better places to shop for necessities.

We also just last Saturday had a prayer meeting which was a great success. Over 70 people were in one building lifting up the name of Christ and praying for the church and the community. That may not seem like a very large number but when 0.2% of people on our set of islands even proclaim to be evangelical Bible believing Christians it is easier to see in perspective how great God is and how He is moving here in Las Palmas.

We were also able to meet our area director this last week. It was great to be able to get to meet him. He is laid back and really wanted to get to know us. We went to the older part of town and it had a cathedral and also Columbus' house. It was great because it was free and open to visitors. Our area director said it was the first time he really got to see Columbus' house there.
These last few weeks and even next few days have been interesting in the fact that Carnival has been going on. Now Disney has an incredible way of making it look kid friendly but the 17 days make such a huge impact on this city. Streets are shut down and "special buses" are run just for this event. It is most commonly characterized by partying and costumes. It has really opened our eyes to how much this lost and dying world (not just here but everywhere) need to hear of the love of Christ, how they don't have to be bound by sin and this world.

It is no secret that the church we are serving in is looking for a new building... so if you could pray for the church and for pastor to have favor and guidance in this search for a building that would be incredibly helpful.
We are getting ready for an Easter production that is coming up and also an AIM team that is coming to minister to children and do a children's workshop. Please keep us in prayer and we will continue to pray for the work of the Body of Christ and advancing of His kingdom both here and around the world.
We will also continue to keep this site and our Facebook and Facebook Page as updated as possible.

We still don't have Internet at our apartment but we are hoping that our cards will come in soon that we can have it there at the apartment as well. :)
